Jewish Priests, Biblical Status Confirmed By DNA, Ready To prepare For Third Temple
Rabbi Yaakov Kleiman has been co-director of the Kohanim Center in Jerusalem since 1995 and author of a book on priestly DNA evidence. He turned to genetics to restore the priesthood for the third temple. Kohanim, or priests, are Jewish men who believe themselves to be descendants of Aaron, the first high priest of Israel. The service of the Temple can only be performed by the kohanim.
Twenty years ago, genetic researchers in Haifa discovered a Y chromosome, a genetic marker passed down from father to son, indicating a common origin for Jewish men who claim to come from the biblical priestly class.
